One of the world's best cooking apples, originating from an Australian seedling. This variety of apple is tip bearing, with bright green skin. It has a tart flavor with a crisp texture. It is revered as a cooking apple, but should certainly not be overlooked for an eating apple if left on the tree to fully ripen. Granny Smith apples have a long storage life and the trees require fewer chilling hours. Requires 2 compatible plants to pollinate.
