Die Baumstrelitzie (Strelitzia nicolai) ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung Strelitzia innerhalb der Familie der Strelitziengew??chse (Strelitziaceae). Der botanische Namenszusatz “nicolai”, der sich auf Zar Nikolaus I. (1796?€?1855) bezieht, kam dadurch zustande, dass ein Exemplar dieser Strelitzien-Art 1858 im Sommergarten von St. Petersburg bluhte. Wie die anderen f??nf Strelitzien-Arten stammt die Baumstrelitzie aus S??dafrika, sie kommt jedoch auch auf den Kanarischen Inseln, Madeira und den Azoren vor. Man ordnet sie den baumartigen Strelitzien zu. Eng verwandt ist Strelitzia nicolai mit der als Schnitt- und Zimmerblume bekannten Paradiesvogelblume (Strelitzia reginae). Die Baumstrelitzie eignet sich gut als K??belpflanze f??r den Wintergarten oder auch als Zimmerpflanze.
